Interoperability in Internet of Things and the Cloud
IoT solutions are specific for the application domain, and depend on very heterogeneous hardware, on communication protocols with changing characteristics and on very diverse data models. In these circumstances, the deployment of IoT applications entails characteristics that are very different from the ones found in Cloud systems. Moreover, depending on the context, the performance of a system may vary depending on how its components are deployed on the Cloud or on devices connected to the network.
This line of research seeks to establish solutions that permit the deployment of applications in the same manner on different levels (cloud, fog and edge), so that the interoperability between the different components does not entail a limitation. These solutions must also respond dynamically to changes in the conditions of the edge, permitting automatic redeployments that optimise the system’s global performance.
