Professor Javier Troya receives the 2025 Málaga Research Award in the Sciences category

Professor Javier Troya Castilla, a member of our institute and a faculty member in the Department of Languages and Computer Science at the School of Computer Engineering of the University of Málaga, has received the 2025 Málaga Research Award in the Sciences category. This distinction recognizes his outstanding career in the field of software and its application to digital twins.

The award ceremony was held in the Hall of Mirrors of Málaga City Hall, in an event presided over by the Mayor of the city, Francisco de la Torre, and attended by representatives of the Málaga Foundation, the Málaga Academy of Sciences, and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Telmo, the institutions organizing the award.

The jury, chaired by Fernando Orellana Ramos and composed of academics Antonio Heredia Bayona, Federico J. C-Soriguer Escofet, Rafael Morales Bueno, and Juan Antonio Camiñas Hernández, unanimously granted the award to Dr. Troya in recognition of his well-established career and research leadership, particularly in the study of the essential role of software in digital twins. This cutting-edge technology enables the creation of virtual replicas of systems and processes to optimize their performance in sectors such as industry, healthcare, and infrastructure management.
