The Institute Receives New Recognition for Its Research Excellence and Commitment to Knowledge Transfer
The Institute for Software Technology and Engineering (ITIS UMA) has recently received new recognitions that highlight both the quality of its research and its commitment to transferring knowledge to society.
On the one hand, two projects involving ITIS UMA researchers have been recognized in the 2026 University of Málaga Spin-Off Competition, an initiative that this year celebrates its 30th anniversary of promoting the creation of companies based on knowledge generated at the university.
The SIMU-MAT project, involving Francisco Chicano, has received the University of Málaga Award. The initiative combines computational chemistry and artificial intelligence to design and optimize advanced materials, helping to accelerate their development in a more efficient and sustainable way.
Meanwhile, EM-SENSE, represented by Antonio Muñoz, has been awarded the Promálaga Award. The project aims to bring to market an innovative monitoring and analysis technology based on the electromagnetic observation of electronic devices for the detection of threats and anomalies.
In addition, two ITIS UMA researchers have been honored with the University of Málaga Extraordinary Doctoral Awards, a distinction that recognizes the best doctoral theses of each call for their scientific quality and impact.
The award-winning researchers are:
Daniel Jesús Muñoz Guerra, corresponding to the 2022/2023 call.
Jorge García González, corresponding to the 2023/2024 call.
These recognitions reflect ITIS UMA’s commitment to research excellence, the training of new research talent, and the transfer of scientific results to society and the productive sector.
