UMA and UVa launch the 2025 Technology Challenge to reduce water consumption.

The University of Málaga, in collaboration with the University of Valladolid, presents the twelfth edition of the Technology Challenge: Engineering is Written with A, aiming to foster student creativity. This challenge, organized annually by a group of professors coordinated by Professor Ana M. Barbancho, seeks to promote technological innovation applied to reducing water consumption, a highly relevant issue today.

This challenge features two categories:

Pre-University Category:
Students from Málaga and Valladolid enrolled in the 2024-2025 academic year in ESO, Bachillerato, or a Medium-Level Vocational Training Program.

University Category:
Students enrolled at the University of Málaga and the University of Valladolid in the 2024-2025 academic year.

In this edition, technological ideas aimed at reducing water consumption will be awarded, using current Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools as support.

One of the most pressing concerns in today’s society is water scarcity and the need for more efficient water usage. While many awareness campaigns are conducted, clear mechanisms to enhance water efficiency have yet to be fully established.

Additionally, the growing impact of AI on all aspects of society is becoming increasingly evident. However, its use is not always as careful and thoughtful as it should be, and in many cases, the inherent risks associated with these technologies are overlooked.

Therefore, this challenge seeks ideas based on new technologies to help reduce water consumption, leveraging AI while also critically evaluating both the benefits and potential risks of its use.
