ITIS Inaguration

The establishment of the Institute of Software Technologies and Engineering (ITIS), an advanced centre for the development and application of software technologies, took place on 30 September in the Ada Byron building, with an institutional act that counted with the vice-rector of Research and Transfer of the UMA, Teodomiro López, and the deputy vice-rector of Services and Research Institutes, Margarita Pérez.

A meeting promoted by the promoter and interim director of this institute, the professor of the Department of Computer Languages and Sciences Ernesto Pimentel, in which its internal rules were approved and the new management team was elected: Pedro Merino, as director; José Francisco Aldana, as deputy director, and Mónica Pinto, as secretary, the three from the E.T.S.I of Informatics of the University of Malaga.

The institute was initially constituted with 39 doctors, although, as indicated, in the coming months it will be expanded with more interdisciplinary researchers, since, due to the transversal characteristics of the software, ‘ITIS’ is a space in which specialists in different technological areas and in different application domains work together to advance these technologies.
