‘iSAT,’ a pioneering tool from UMA to combat water scarcity in Málaga.
The University of Málaga (UMA) is leading an innovative project to address the water crisis affecting the province. The Intelligent Early Warning System, developed by a multidisciplinary team of researchers, has been selected as part of the ‘PLAnd Sequía Andalucía,’ a key initiative by the regional government to mitigate the effects of drought in the region.
The project, driven by experts from the Center for Hydrogeology (CEHIUMA) and the ERTIS group, part of the Institute of Software Engineering and Technology (ITIS UMA), is funded with over €326,000 from FEDER funds and has a two-year implementation timeline. Its main goal is to optimize the management of groundwater in critical areas of northern Málaga.
