Málaga will host the 4th Quantum Optimization Workshop at GECCO 2025

The city of Málaga will host the 4th Quantum Optimization Workshop (QuantOpt), which will take place as part of the GECCO 2025 Conference from July 14 to 18, 2025. This event will bring together experts from around the world to discuss advancements in applying quantum computing to optimization problems.

The workshop will cover the latest developments in quantum computing, including the use of gate-based quantum computers and quantum annealing to solve complex problems.

Key topics to be addressed include problem formulation as QUBOs, the analysis of quantum search algorithms, quantum circuit optimization, and the impact of these technologies on machine learning.

The workshop features participation from leading researchers in the field of quantum computing. Among the organizers is our colleague Francisco Chicano, who will contribute to the coordination and development of the event, ensuring a high-level forum for scientific and technological discussion in this emerging field.

We invite paper submissions in two formats: regular papers (maximum 8 pages) and short papers (maximum 4 pages). Submissions must present original work that meets GECCO’s high-quality standards. Each submission will undergo a rigorous review process, and accepted papers will be published in the ACM Digital Library as part of the GECCO Companion Proceedings.

Each accepted paper must have at least one registered author before the registration deadline, and presentations must be submitted through the online system: https://ssl.linklings.net/conferences/gecco/.
