Meetings begin for the extension of the 5G Victoria Network to Málaga TechPark
On Tuesday the 12th of March, at the Ada Byron Research Building, we received the visit of Felipe Romera (Director of the Malaga TechPark), Natalia Pérez (Deputy Director of Technology Dissemination and Projects of the Malaga TechPark and VP INNOVA IRV) and Mariano Morán (CTO Transversal Digital Technologies of INNOVA IRV), who held a meeting with Pedro Merino (Director of ITIS UMA) and María del Mar Moreno (ITIS UMA Project Technician) to agree on how to provide 5G coverage for experimental use at Málaga TechPark.
The Victoria network is an experimental platform for 5G and 6G mobile networks managed by the University of Malaga’s Institute of Technology and Software Engineering. This infrastructure currently covers part of the Teatinos campus and other parts of the province. The infrastructure will be extended thanks to the support of the first call for research infrastructures of the UNICO 6G programme. This platform consists of all the elements needed to create end-to-end private 5G networks with commercial and experimental equipment, including terminals, base stations, virtualised 5G cores, application servers, measurement instruments and the capacity to create SIM cards, among others.
