The EnBic2-Lab project’s Open Days are held
The LifeWatch ERIC project “Environmental and Biodiversity Climate Change Lab”, which aimed to study biodiversity and the sustainable management of ecosystems, held a final two-day event at the Ada Byron Research Building.
Over the course of 19 February 2024, the project’s achievements were presented, ranging from scientific breakthroughs to software solutions designed to support researchers in environmental and biodiversity-related issues, with a particular focus on climate change. These results have been obtained from work carried out in natural areas of Andalusia, highlighting the valuable knowledge generated at the University of Malaga, which has contributed to producing results of international relevance. In addition, the foundations have been laid to promote progress towards a European infrastructure that provides broader support for environmental data management in different geographical regions.
On the second day, on 20 February, the participants were able to enjoy demonstrations and visits to the laboratories of the different groups that have collaborated in this initiative (9 R&D groups of the UMA).
The project has been co-financed by the University of Malaga and the European Union through the ERDF with 11 million euros through the call of the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness, within the LifeWatch ERIC funding line, the European e-Infrastructure focused on biodiversity research and sustainable management of ecosystems in a scenario of global climate change. The results will be openly published and available to the entire pan-European and international scientific community to which they are addressed.
